Many women think that fruit masks are very good for the skin, but according to cosmetologists, should be cautious when using fruit masks.
The use of fruit masks and skin care products is preferred by many people because this way of returning beauty to nature avoids the side effects of chemicals. However, the products of nature are not quite as benign as many people think.

Everyone’s facial skin is different, which can be divided into four types: dry skin, oily skin, combination skin (oily T-zone) and sensitive skin. Fruits also have many types, if temporarily classifying them according to taste, there are basically three types: sweet (banana, watermelon, sweetened yogurt …), sour (tomato, lemon, strawberry, orange) , grapefruit …), tasteless fruits (cucumbers, potatoes, beans…). However, the fact that each fruit is suitable for each person’s skin is not simple. Using a fruit mask should also be cautious. Illustration Specific information on this issue, Dr. Huynh Huy Hoang, Dermatology Hospital of Ho Chi Minh City said that sweet fruits are not good for the skin but only beneficial for bacteria. The more sweet fruit you add, the more bacteria will grow. Avoid sweet fruits and sweetened yogurts. Sour fruits contain fruit acids with mild bleaching properties, so they work to slough off dead cells on the skin. Therefore, it is best to use it only once a week. Do not mix many types of fruit to make a face mask because it can be ineffective, even more harmful to the skin. The most commonly used fruit is cucumber. Normally, using cucumber is very simple, just grate it very thin and then apply it on your face. However, even this “gentle” type can be troublesome if used incorrectly. There have been many cases of skin becoming red after applying cucumbers just because they did not cut the two ends of the melon to rub off the plastic. Cucumber sap causes skin allergies, causing the skin to become red. If you put on a cucumber, you will still get sunburned if you have just finished taking care of your skin and go outside. Not to mention, if the fruit contains toxic chemicals, the more harmful it is to the user’s skin. Mild redness, severe itching can be infected, festering is very dangerous. Therefore, depending on your skin type, you should choose accordingly. People with dry skin should choose fruits containing fat or mix more olive oil, milk to add fat and moisture to the skin, helping the skin not to be wrinkled, premature aging. If the skin has a lot of dead cells, you should apply a mask with olive oil with a few drops of lemon or mashed steamed potatoes mixed with whey or pureed strawberries mixed with unsweetened raw milk. People with oily skin should use sour and tasteless fruits. When applying cucumber, it is necessary to wait until the water in the cucumber slice is completely drained, then peel it back from the bottom of the chin (peeling from the top down is easy to cause sagging skin, premature aging). Oil, residue and dead cells will stick to the cucumber slices, so the skin is cleansed. Particularly sour fruits should be mixed with fat-free, sugar-free milk so that the skin has more nutrients without being “flooded in oil”. According to Dr. Le Thai Van Thanh – University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Ho Chi Minh City, people with oily skin in the T-zone, the rest of the skin is normal, should be cared for like oily skin. Thus, it is recommended to use tasteless fruits, mixed with milk is best. Particularly those with sensitive skin should test the reaction with the fruit before putting it on their face. Ideally, skin should be nourished after dinner, apply the mask for 15 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Remember, carelessly washing your face, the fruit acid left on the skin will continue to “work” making the skin prone to redness and peeling. A mask once or twice a week is enough, if you apply too much, the skin will be “overeating” with nutrients. Finally, the hygiene stage, it is necessary to wash the face thoroughly after applying the mask. Fruits used as masks also need to be preliminarily cleaned and used with separate tools (mortar, pestle, mask stick …) to ensure hygiene and do not mix other substances. And a final note is to choose clean fruit at reputable fruit stores, the origin is clearly the best way to make a mask.
